1874-1950. Arthur Stringer was born in London, Ontario, son of Hugh Arbuthnott Stringer. Having passed through public school and collegiate institute, he attended University College, Toronto, and later, for one academic year, the University of Oxford.
For several years he was engaged in editorial work, first, with the Montreal Herald and second with the American Press Association.
